The only problem are really old mods or stuff from authors who don't care about the modding community, like the "true" patch. Now if you install a mod like Clan Quest it will create its own shortcut and a /cqm subdirectory.Īnother version of the patch however will overwrite the /Unofficial_Patch folder, but if you want to keep the base patch from gog and install the plus patch as a second option you can rename the /Unofficial_Patch folder to /basepatch and create a new shortcut with -game basepatch before installing the new plus patch. (I believe for the vanilla version in gog you have to create your own shortcut or start the game from the START menu) So for example, when you install the gog version you get a /vampire subdirectory and a /Unofficial_Patch subdirectory with its own shortcut. That means you can play this mod using a shortcut without parameters. If you use a really old mod, it will install directly into the /vampire subdirectory. That means they install into their own subdirectory and create their own desktop shortcut. How do I accomplish that in this environment?īasically to start a vanilla game you create a shortcut to vampire.exe without any -game parameter. It is to be applied by copying over a file structure on top of the VTMB structure. Now, I would like to use an old mod that I would like to try to apply to the vanilla version. Does this imply that I can get vanilla if I remove that parameter? Or must I replace that parameter with " -game Vampire" or with some other parameter? I note that in the properties of the shortcut, it uses the parameter " -game Unofficial_Patch". I do see an Unofficial_Patch subdirectory and a Vampire subdirectory. There is only one other exe file and it is called 'Vampire_4GB_fixed.exe' (not counting the uninstall exe). It points to a 'vampire.exe' in the directory of blahblah\goggames\VTMB. I did a fresh install, but I do not see what you are describing. It switches to the default Ventrue model when I try to start out with a higher armor (look, not class starting out with the look of armor 1 instead of 0), probably because I’m mucking up somewhere along the line and I’m not changing the right names/in the right places, but it shows up fine when I undo that, which is way more successful than before.Wesp5: No, the patch itself always installs into an "Unofficial_Patch" subfolder, but the GOG version like the retail release and the Steam version also includes the original "Vampire" subfolder with the unaltered files. (The reskin for Ventrue and Lasombra, switched a bit to use it as a Toreador) Not sure if restarting helped, or if I just did something wrong last night while tired, but it works. First thing I did this morning was check my files see if this was the case, and yep, everything was in place and there were 54 files inin armor0, so I opened up the game and. You're still seeing the vanilla glasses and hair bow? Huh. Hopefully windows isn't blocking the mod files. Originally posted by R.I.P:"Unofficial_Patch\materials\models\character\pc\female now has a Tremere folder"Īnd this tremere folder contains four "armor" folders (0-3)?Īrmor0 containing 54 files mostly from 2009? Check the Options Gameplay menu, if the patch is running you should see "unofficial patch" written there.Ĭheckered character is usually caused by textures, not being installed where the models are looking for them.Īs you may have noticed there is a Materials/models path for textures, and a Models path for models. It must be launched from the desktop short-cut that it created, or from modified launch options (which has been explained elsewhere). If you don't see any change, make sure that you're actually running the Unofficial Patch (Check the Options Gameplay menu, if the patch is running you should see "unofficial patch" written there). This mod uses vanilla models, so if you already have any other models installed for Tremere female (in Unofficial_Patch\models\character\pc\female\tremere), you need to remove those. After you extract the mod archive, open the Tremere pack folder, and copy the materials folder, then paste the materials folder into the Unofficial_Patch folder and "allow overwrite" if asked.
